Strike di Corvette a Bowling Green!

Alle prime luci del mattino di Mercoledì una voragine fra i 7 e i 9 metri si è aperta al centro del National Corvette Museum in kentucky, nella città di Bowling Green, inghiottendo 8 fra le più belle e preziose Chevrolet Corvette al mondo. Sembra lo scenario successivo ad un bombardamento, ma forse solo il peso costante delle Auto ha causato il cedimento. La struttura è crollata fra le 5:30 e le 5:44 del mattino, quindi non c’era ancora nessuno del personale, come afferma la portavoce del museo Katie Frassinelli. Di certo lo spettacolo che si sono trovati di fronte non è stato dei più confortanti. Immaginatevi una collezione di Ferrari distrutta fra le macerie di un edificio. Pezzi d’arte e di bellezza rovinati come il tempo non era riuscito a fare prima. La stessa cosa è accaduta in quel museo che non a caso ne celebrava la storia e l’estetica. La spiegazione sta nel fatto che Bowling Green si trova nel bel mezzo della più grande regione carsica dello stato e grotte lunghissime corrono sotto tutta la città e anche sotto il museo. Per ora questa ala del museo, aperta dal 1994, rimarrà chiusa e si sta valutando la stabilità della restante parte dell’edificio. I lavori per riparare i danni dovranno ricominciare al più presto perché alla fine dell’Estate ospiterà il Corvette Caravan con cui si celebreranno i 20 anni del museo, evento che vedrà Club Corvette convergere a Bowling Green da tutta America.

Le auto cadute nella voragine sono  la ZR-1 Spyder del 1993, la ZR-1 Blue Devil del 2009, queste due  in prestito dalla GM, ma anche la Black Corvette del 1962, la PPG Pace Car del 1984, la White 1 Millionth Corvette del 1992, la Ruby Red 40th Anniversary del 1993, la Mallet Hammer Z06 Corvette del 2001 e la White 1.5 Millionth Corvette del 2009. Early in the Wednesday morning  a 7 to 9 metres chasm opened in the center of the National Corvette Museum in Kentucky, in the city of Bowling Green, swallowing  8 of the most beautiful and precious Chevrolet Corvette in the world. It seems the scenario following a bombing, but maybe just the constant weight of the car caused the failure . The structure collapsed between 5:30 and 5:44 in the morning, so there was no one at the time, as the spokesman for the museum Katie Frassinelli. Of course the show they were faced was not the most comforting. Imagine a collection of Ferraris destroyed in the rubble of a building. Pieces of art and beauty ruined as the weather was not able to do before. The same thing happened in that museum that is no coincidence that it was celebrating the history and aesthetics. The explanation lies in the fact that Bowling Green is located in the middle of the largest karst region of the state and caves long run beneath the entire city and even in the museum. For now this wing of the museum, open since 1994, will be closed and the engineers are considering the stability of the remaining part of the building. The work to repair the damage will start as soon as possible because at the end of Summer the museum  will host the Corvette Caravan which celebrates its 20th anniversary, an event which will converge at Bowling Green Corvette Clubs from all over America.
